The San has an ongoing commitment to the education and training of healthcare professionals – and as a teaching hospital, we also invest heavily in medical research through affiliations with major tertiary education institutions. We are proud to have forged a strong academic partnership with Australian National University, and our key partner in nursing education is Avondale University, whose students are able to study and live on our campus.
In 2020, Adventist HealthCare welcomed ELIA Wellness to the family. A registered charity dedicated to promoting good health, ELIA empowers the community to whole-person health, healing and hope, transforming lives in the process. ELIA stands for ‘Empower Lifestyle Innovation Advocates’ and their initiatives include health education resources and fitness programs. The evidence-based ELIA Lifestyle Medicine Centre at the San is aimed at tackling chronic diseases.
Sydney Adventist Hospital’s annual Perioperative Bake Off was back for another year, with a fresh batch of keen bakers hoping to be crowned cream of the crop. From larger layered desserts to brownies, a range of sweet treats were up for judging.
Members of Masada College’s Student Representative Council (SRC) have hand delivered cards made by their classes, which they had coloured in and wrote beautiful messages of support. The Junior School SRC have been encouraging their classes to perform as many mitzvot (good deeds) as possible. They hope the messages express their gratitude to our San nurses for their amazing work and their support to the patients.
Staff have marked 10 years of the Chapman Surgical Centre with a celebratory afternoon tea. The Surgical Centre was officially opened in September 2014, with more than 203,000 patients entering through its doors since that time.
